It is not always realised that the first relationship we have in this life is with our mother and, because it is such a ‘natural’ combination of joint energies and we are so young, we really don’t understand that this wonderful experience can be the model for all further relationships in the future. In fact, the combination of the energies is so strong that we are completely unaware that we are separate from our mother and that there are, of course, two individual souls but with the bonding of love and dependence.
As we start to develop our own unique characteristics we discover that we are an individual and that we have another but different type of energy around us that smells and feels different and is not with us as much as our mother. We instinctively know that our father loves us just as much as our mother and so become trusting that other people we meet will also love us albeit in a different way. These are our first opportunities to begin our initial relationships. With parents, siblings, friends and lovers or marriage partners and it is how we interact with these people that moulds us into the final characters that we become. We learn about balance, about giving and taking, to be truly loved and give love.
